Dienstregeling
- Doordeweeks na circa 20:00 uur wordt de frequentie geleidelijk verlaagd van 3x/uur naar 1x/uur.
- De gehele week na circa 21:00 uur en op zondag tot circa 10:00 uur wordt als belbus gereden.

Geschiedenis
Op 14 juli 2018 vonden er grote wijzigingen in het busvervoer van de Stadt Bottrop en Kreis Recklinghausen plaats. Op lijn 261 bleven de route en de frequenties grotendeels gehandhaafd. Wel werd de nieuwe halte Oberhausener Straße aan de route toegevoegd en werden de haltes Nordfriedhof en Seniorenzentrum Sankt Teresa hernoemd in respectievelijk Nordfriedhof/Brünerstraße en Görkenstraße/Seniorenzentrum.
Op 6 januari 2019 werd de route licht gewijzigd. Tussen het ZOB Berliner Platz en Im Beckram werd voortaan via het Westfriedhof gereden waar enkele nieuwe haltes in gebruik genomen werden. Bij deze routewijziging vervielen de haltes Nathrathstraße en Heidenheck.

Op 16 oktober 2023 kwam de halte Haßlacher Straße richting Bottrop Eigen te vervallen.
