Citaro van de RET

De Mercedes-Benz Citaro (ook bekend als O530) is de opvolger van de Mercedes-Benz O405. Net als zijn voorganger is de Citaro succesvol en wordt wereldwijd verkocht. De bus werd in 1997 geïntroduceerd en heeft vaak een lage vloer. Er bestaat sinds 2000 ook een gelede uitvoering. Van de gelede variant is er een extra lange versie die met CapaCity wordt aangeduid. In 2005 kreeg de Citaro een ander uiterlijk (Citaro Facelift, of Citaro II). In 2011 werd de Citaro 2 geïntroduceerd. Deze wordt niet meer met O530, maar met C628 aangeduid.

Een speciaal project is het onder meer door de EU gefinancierde project waarbij er in verschillende steden Citaro's op waterstof rijden/reden. Amsterdam was één van de deelnemende steden, maar het project is hier inmiddels ten einde.

Types

Van de Citaro bestaan verschillende subtypes, die vaak met een of meerdere letters zijn aangegeven. Hieronder staat een overzicht van letters met hun betekenis.

Aandrijving

  • GDH: De bus is geleed en hybride met een aandrijving die deels via een batterij gaat
  • H2: Bus rijdt op waterstof
  • Hybrid: Bus is hybride
  • NGT: Bus heeft een aandrijving op natuurlijk gas
  • NGT Hybrid: Bus is een hybride met gedeeltelijke aandrijving op natuurlijk gas
  • CNG: Bus rijdt op Compressed Natural Gas
  • E: Bus heeft een elektrische aandrijving

Lengte

  • K: Bus is 10 meter lang
  • M: Bus is 13 meter lang
  • L: Bus is 15 meter lang
  • G: Bus is geleed en 18 meter lang
  • GL: Bus is geleed en 21 meter lang

Indeling

  • Ü: Bus is voorzien van een regioindeling met comfortabelere stoelen (die vaak op podesten staan) en meestal een enkelblads voordeur
  • LE: Bus heeft een verhoogde vloer achter de tweede deur
