De "Museumstoomtram Hoorn-Medemblik" (afgekort "SHM") exploiteert sinds 1968 een toeristische (stoom)tramdienst op de spoorlijn Hoorn - Medemblik.
De doelstelling van de SHM is om een beeld te geven van de interlokale tramwegen zoals deze in de eerste helft van de twintigste eeuw reden. De SHM doet dit door middel van het rijden met originele (stoom)tramlocomotieven en historische tramrijtuigen.
Ondanks dat uit elke Nederlandse provincie (m.u.v. Flevoland) minstens één tramvoertuig bewaard is gebleven, is dit niet genoeg voor de exploitatie. De materieelvloot is daarom uitgebreid met industriële stoomlocomotieven en (voornamelijk) Oostenrijkse lokaalspoorrijtuigen.
